Winemaker Notes
The 2021 vintage started with just a little rain in winter and spring, followed by a moderate summer and cooler fall. The absence of heat spikes and moisture as the clusters finished ripening meant we could pick exactly when we felt the fruit was at its peak. Grown in a vineyard block surrounded by dense forest, this Merlot uniquely reflects the terroir of Mt. Veeder. Both sumptuous and delicately earthy, the wine offers up aromatics of dark cherry, blueberry, rose petal, and forest floor. Silky tannins carry each sip into incredible length.

Blend: 95% Merlot, 5% Malbec

Black currant, dried flower, fresh lavender, lead pencil, mint, thyme, and pine cone aromas. Pine needle. Full-bodied with firm and chewy tannins that run the length of the wine but also have a softness to them.

Dynamic and expressive, offering richly detailed cherry and red currant flavors layered with espresso and Asian spice tones as this builds polish toward fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2033.
